Behind the Scenes at AHEM: Summer Peeso

This series profiles the volunteer board members of AHEM who answer your phone calls and emails; keep the AHEM website updated; follow MA legislation; maintain the homeschool policy and practice database; and dream up and make happen events and programs like homeschooling workshops, Town Point People, the AHEM Networking Forum, and the Slow Homeschooling podcast.

Summer Peeso

Originally from Colorado, Summer now calls Natick home and has for the past 12 years. She is an all-weather outdoorsy New Englander (a quick study), with fun-loving creativity, and a passion for curiosity which is woven into homeschooling her nine-year-old. Over the past four years an eclectic homeschool style has developed into collaborative learning which embraces hands on project-based exploration. Along with her partner, Summer focuses on making a variety of experiences available to their home educated learner. Outside of her student-engaged learning, Summer finds joy listening to music, reading at libraries, walking through farmers markets, being in nature, visiting museums, and dabbling in hobby photography. Summer is excited to contribute and thankful to be a member of the AHEM board.
