Homeschoolers "Not" Going Back to School Picnic: It's
that time of year again when our kids don't "go back"
to school. Good time for a picnic!
Where: Fort Tabor Park (AKA Fort Rodman Military Reservation)
in the south end of New Bedford. (directions below) We'll meet
at the playground.
When:
Thursday, September 4th at 11:00. Rain date the following week,
Thursday, Sept. 11th. If the weather looks questionable, I'll
post a cancellation on our Yahoo Group board by 10am.
Who:
Open to all homeschoolers & their families, anyone even thinking
about home schooling, and former homeschoolers who want to catch
up with old friends.
What
to bring: Picnic lunch. There is a snack shack that sells
food, but I'm not sure if its season is over yet. It might be
closed. There is also a really neat Military Museum on the property.
This is a great site for flying kites, riding a bike, or rollerblading.
There is a paved walkway that runs the perimeter of the park.
If youre into Letterboxing, theres a box hidden here.
There is also a beach. It is a beautiful place. If you've never
been there, then come down just for the view. You can see the
Elizabeth Islands & sometimes even the Vineyard.
Directions:
Interstate 195, Exit 15: Downtown - Route 18 South. Follow
Route 18, go thru 3 set of lights, at your fourth set of lights
take a left. You should pass Billy Woods Wharf on the left. The
entrance to the park is at the bend in the road. Follow the drive
to the last parking lot. You should see the playground on the
right.
RSVP:
Not necessary, but it'd be nice to get an idea of who'll be there!
